Have you ever thought about live music at work? Do you have a boardroom or a factory or a workplace where you think a musical performance could take place? Do you have space in your house for music? Or in your school/community centre or restaurant? Or do you have ideas for interesting outdoor spaces? Email linda@modelart.ie and let her know. No space too small and the more unlikely the better.

DEAF (Dublin Electronic Arts Festival) are bringing The Model’s innovative New Spaces for Music programme to Dublin this October as part of the 2009 festival. Challenging musicians and audiences to interact more with their surroundings, the music, and each other, New Spaces brings live music into unusual settings. Intended as a taster experience or a musical intervention, New Spaces for DEAF will see a series of 7 gigs happen in unusual spaces around Dublin; shops, empty offices, a van, an apartment, a train station can all become musical spaces.

The date, time and artist will be announced in the DEAF programme but you will have to follow DEAF on twitter, facebook or the website to get the locations, which will be announced online no more than 24 hours before the performance takes place.

New Spaces gigs are free of charge and last just 30-40minutes, showcasing the talent of some of Ireland’s most inventive, electronically influenced, new acts.

Artists include BabyBeef, Neosupervital, Threadpulls, Somadrone, Sarsaparilla, Brian Mooney and Polly Fibre
