The closure of The Model for re-development
in December 2007 has presented the education programme with
a unique set of circumstances - without a building how do
we engage the public in a programme of activities and events.
The redevelopment has given us an opportunity to really bring
art out onto the streets of Sligo. The occupation of
a premises on Wolfetone Street, a former pharmacy has been
a key venue for education projects, gigs and workshops during
2009. The site has been the venue for a number of education
programmes and has also doubled as an artist studio |
Young Model and artist Artist Andy have shared
the studio space aptly named Wolf on Arm since Spring this
year. See what
they have been up to over the summer by clicking the following

Amongst other education initiatives, this autumn will also
focus on our primary and secondary schools programme, inviting
schools to respond through a series of collage parties to the
exhibition Reverse
Pedagogy at The Model Satellite. |
With the Reopening of The Model in March 2010, there will
be a large and unique reopening programme entitled DORM. As
part of this project, The Model will collaborate with the School
of Product Design at the Institute
of Technology Sligo in the creation of a series of temporary
sleeping quarters.
