Craic in the Box Review

Craic in the box kicks off a new year with one of the heroes of Irish comedy; Brendan Burke.  A perfect tonic for the post-Christmas blues, Burke has been wowing audiences all over the place for the last few years with regular appearances at the Laughter Lounge, support slots with Jack L at the Point and with such comic greats as Eddie Izzard and Rich Hall.

Burke has a way with words, accents, movement and inspired exaggeration". …The Irish Examiner.

His Edinburgh shows ‘Best of Irish Comedy’ in 1999 and 'One Night in Baghdad ' in 2000 were both sell outs, and Festival favourites. He's toured with Patrick Kielty, played the Kilkenny Cat Laughs many times and has played in Cape Town, New York and in the UK. Oh, and you might recognise his Garda character from RTE's X-It File

"Suddenly I realised I was in the hands of a master comedian"
- The Irish Times

Brendan now owns and runs one of Dublin ’s top comedy clubs; Gibneys in Malahide, where he regularly previews new material for his UK tours.  His style is as relaxed as you might expect for someone who’s been performing comedy for more than a dozen years, and he always has the audience’s attention without resorting to shouty shenanigans.  An undeniably good stand-up Burke has an instinct for playful mischief that influences much of his set.

"He is part gorilla, part Travolta and part pure genius" .....The Scotsman
