juneau/projects/ is a collaborative partnership between British artists Ben Sadler and Phil Duckworth, and they are considered amongst some of the UK’s most exciting younger artists. This show was the first exhibition of their work in Ireland and featured some early works alongside two major new commissions.
.
Central to the exhibition are two ambitious new commissions. Beneath the floorboards of the forest, empty space (2006) consists of a specially built text based computer game presented on hobbyist landscaped work stations. The player is led through a complex and unsettling fantasy landscape encountering ambiguous and mildly disturbing characters and creatures a long the way. The second commission, ‘I’m going to antler you’ continues the juneau’s interest in the creative possibilities of making music in collaboration with children. Two groups of children worked with the juneau’s to create the ‘look’ and music of their imagined groups, ‘the embers’ and ‘ebony angels’ with the resulting costumes, photographs and music presented in the exhibition.
This exhibition was organised by Ikon Gallery, Birmingham in partnership with the Model, Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge, and FACT, Liverpool and was supported the Arts Council England National Touring Programme and the Henry Moore Foundation.
Supported by the British Council.
