The Winter Music season at the Model features the return of the Sligo Festival of Baroque Music, now in its twelfth year, for another magnificant weekend of music making sure to delight everyone from the most casual music lover to the seasoned early music buff. Acknowledged as one of the best festivals of its kind in Ireland it combines performances from the best irish musicians alongside the leading lights in europe.
Classical music continues with the return of the popular Con Brio Music Season wich we are delighted to host and support one again this winter.
As part of The Eternal Now; Warhol and the Factory '63-'68 we have programmed a series of select musical performances from contemporary acts that invoke the spirit of the Factory; its emphasis on experimentation, collaboration and visual representations of sound. the series begins with a performance from Max Richter (UK) in October and December presents Dan Deacon(USA), Si Schreoder (IRL) and Cap//Pas//Cap (IRL)
Model Music is also on tour this November, with Month of Sundays; the innovative series developed by The Model with dj and filmmaker Donal Dineen in 2006. On tour on the west coast of Ireland , as a research partner with The Arts Council Touring Experiment, MOS will spend a Sunday in Kerry (Kerry Film Festival), Galway (Ard Bia), Cork (Triskel) and Limerick (Belltable)
