Sun
5 Sep @ 8.30pm - €12/10
Donal
O' Kelly is an actor and playwright. His previous solo plays include
the award-winning Catalpa and Bat The
Father Rabbit The Son. As an actor, he is known for his
comic roles in movies such as Bimbo in The Van
and Brainer in Spin The Bottle. This summer, he
will play the lead role of Sean O'Casey in Colm Toibin's play about
the Plough riots, Beauty in a Broken Place in the Peacock.

Joyced looks back at 1904 through the eyes of JJ Staines,
a rough gruff bric-a-brac stallholder in Portobello Market with
a dangerous obsession for all things Joycean. JJ drives like
a man possessed through the full gamut of 1904 Joyce from
his fraught 22nd birthday in February, until his departure from

Sligo
Solo
Mon 6 Sep @ 9.00pm - €12/10
In
what has to be one of the most unique gigs performed in Sligo this
year Solo brings four of Sligo's greatest and most diverse
musical talents together, for one night only, at The Model.
Cathy
Jordan, Felip Carbonell,
Colin Gillen and Seamie
O'Dowd will all grace the stage of The Black Box on Monday
6 th September at 9pm, a show not to be missed.
Best
known as the lead singer of Dervish, Cathy
Jordan's soulful voice,
unquestionable musicianship and witty charm, have become the binding
agent and trademark of the group, so it is no surprise that she
was nominated by RTE Radio 1 as one of the Top Ten Most Distinctive
Female Voices in Ireland in August. Sligo will now have
a rare opportunity to see the fruits of her collaboration with Derry-born
pianist Feargal Murray, as they perform a combination of newly composed
contemporary pieces and Irish traditional songs with a modern interpretation.
A
spirited and popular performer Seamie
O'Dowd, needs no introduction. Another member of
the Dervish camp, Seamie is a multi -instrumentalist extraordinaire.
Playing fiddle, harmonica and guitar with equal ease Seamie
is just as comfortable playing rock, blues or traditional music.
A truly outstanding musician he never disappoints.
Colin
Gillen has spent
the last number of years off the stage but behind the scenes, running
the extremely successful Barry's Public House & Live Music
Venue in Grange. Playing host to all of Ireland's best-known
musicians it's little surprise that he is emerging as an excellent
singer and songwriter himself. With sister Nicola he has just released
a debut EP, As Time Passes By which is gathering significant
national attention. Nicola's harmonies have given their material
a strong unique vocal quality and her voice leaves audiences lingering
with her melodies.
Monday
also presents yet another rare opportunity; a chance to hear the
highly talented Mallorcan musician Felip
Carbonell . Sligo resident Felip is a passionate
and intuitive musician whose most recent concert in the Factory
in July was nothing less than outstanding. Currently playing
in two Sligo-based groups: Bronson Jazz Ensemble, and the Yvonne
Cunningham Quartet, his addition to the line up ensures a very special
night indeed.
