Sligo, The Solo Festival is a unique event that focuses on the solo
artist across multiple disciplines; music, comedy, film, drama and
visual art. The festival has heavy musical leanings but aims to
offer a very diverse programme.
Inaugurated
in 2003, Solo had an incredible debut and secured such high
calibre performers as Kate Boyd (classical), Mike Nielson
(jazz), Andy Irvine and Dick Gaughan (Roots) Thom
Moore and Steve Wickham (folk) Mundy and Juliet
Turner (rock) and Avashalom Farjun (world).
Playing
to the strengths of the Black Box Theatre's sumptuous acoustics,
Solo '04 promises to bring you exciting and unique performances
in an intimate and comfortable venue.
This
year artists include multi-instrumentalist David
Kitt, blues singer Mary
Coughlan, singer songwriter
Mark Geary, jazz guitar legend Martin
Taylor , folk star Kieran Goss,
writer/director/actor Donal O'Kelly
, virtuoso fiddler Steve Wickham
and classical pianist Neil Cooney
among others.

Arts Council, Failte
Ireland, Sligo
Borough and County Councils and a host of local
businesses who support the arts in Sligo.
